Daniel Bral is a first-generation Jewish Iranian American human rights attorney, political and policy advisor, and appointed California Democratic Party Delegate. He received his bachelor’s degree from UCLA and his J.D. from Loyola Law School, where he served as Executive Editor of Loyola’s International and Comparative Law Review. Daniel’s law review article on Israel’s Nation-State Law was one of three student articles chosen for publication.
In law school, Daniel worked for Mayor Garcetti as part of his homelessness policy team, where he drafted the Right to Counsel motion, which guaranteed legal representation for low-income tenants facing eviction; identified and transformed a vacant downtown property into a “Bridge Home” shelter; and spearheaded daily voter registration drives in advance of the 2018 midterms – registering 172 people experiencing homelessness. Thereafter, he worked for City Attorney Mike Feuer as a law clerk and communications associate, and then as campaign manager for Rob Wilcox, candidate for Los Angeles City Controller.
Daniel has been a leader in Jewish and nuanced Israel advocacy. He currently serves as Chair of Progressive Zionists of California and a steering committee member of the Los Angeles chapter of Israel Policy Forum. (Daniel previously served as co-chair of the 2021 Charles Bronfman IPF Atid Convener cohort.) In addition to being a published international law author, Daniel has written about Israel, Zionism, and the American Jewish community for Haaretz and other publications. Daniel was one of several Jewish community leaders who endorsed Karen Bass for Mayor. He is also a founding member of Iranian American Democrats of California.
At every step of the way, Daniel has zealously advocated for the least advantaged – be it people experiencing homelessness or people of color seeking justice. You can follow him on social media @danielbral.
